About Magnolia Helping Hands

A boutique disability support provider where participants aren't just numbers - they're part of our family.

    Meet May - Our Founder

Looking after a family member with severe intellectual disability inspired me to start Magnolia Helping Hands - a disability support service that helps others in similar situations live out their lives the best way possible. I want to see them enjoy life and spread their wings just like the magnolia tree spreads its branches.

What makes Magnolia unique is our boutique style approach. This means that you have direct access to me personally, inside and outside working hours. I sit with each one of my clients to understand what they want to get out of their supports, what limitations they have, and how Magnolia can assist them. This is done alongside completing necessary documentation such as Risk Assessments, medical evaluation, and considering any cultural, spiritual and personal preferences.

I have a connection with each of my clients. I know their needs and am very familiar with their support schedules. I have the ability and willingness to address their needs effectively and immediately. That's what sets us apart from larger providers.

A blanket approach does not work in the NDIS space due to the various needs, capabilities and personal goals of each client. So it is very important to tailor a care plan where the client has extensive input. My support workers understand the importance of their role in helping clients achieve their NDIS goals and aspirations.

    Our Philosophy

At Magnolia Helping Hands, we believe in participant-first support that puts relationships at the center of everything we do.

    Boutique Provider Model

We're intentionally small and personal. This means you're never lost in a system, never just a file number. You know who's supporting you, and we know you - your goals, your preferences, your story.

    Direct Access & Accountability

Have a question or concern? You can reach me directly. No call centers, no lengthy processes. This direct line of communication ensures your voice is always heard and acted upon quickly.

    Strong Participant Voice & Choice

Your goals, your choices, your life. We're here to support you in achieving what matters most to you. Every decision is made with your input and consent, respecting your autonomy and dignity.

    Building Trust with Families

Trust is the foundation of everything we do

    Safe & Timely Support

We ensure we are able to carry out the supports safely and in a timely manner. Our communication is consistent and transparent, keeping families informed of any changes, updates or challenges involving participants.

    Active Listening & Solutions

My support workers actively listen to participants' concerns or suggested ideas, and find solutions as soon as possible. I make quick 5-minute phone calls to check on clients, asking if they're okay, if they're happy with their support worker/s, and if they'd like to change anything.

    Regular Feedback & Reviews

I send out regular feedback forms and do yearly service agreement reviews with all my clients and their representatives where feedback is collected and I follow up with the actions suggested. I am continuously asking for feedback from my clients.

    Reliable Scheduling System

At Magnolia, I offer reliable and dependable supports. Using a scheduling system, client bookings and support workers are confirmed. I use a relief support workers system to cover for any unscheduled or unforeseen event. This ensures that my clients are always looked after without compromising on their supports.

    Support During Special Times

Around festive seasons or birthdays, this is very close to my heart. I have to make sure each of my clients has a plan to be with family or a support worker so they are not left alone. I make enquiries with local communities charity clubs and book them for a lunch or dinner if they can't afford to go out to a restaurant. I feel that I have to do this to give my clients a sense of belonging and that they do matter to all of us which makes them feel happy and suitably supported.

    High Standards at Home

When we help our clients at home, we do the work like it is our own home. Duties we undertake for clients such as washing, cooking and cleaning - re-organising kitchen cupboards or wardrobes, packing groceries, cleaning fridges - are done to a high standard of care, safety and pride in our work. This creates a very clean and organised living space for my clients, they feel much more happier, and they can focus on things that they enjoy doing.
